Day After Loss Part Deux

24 hours later
Still angry
But it is starting to subside
Tears are gone though
Back in mourning
Don't have many close friends
Thought this one was for life
This isn't the first time
I was wrong
And will not be the last
This heart remains broken and battered
People wonder why I don't let many people in
This is why, guys and gals
No one will ever hurt me again

Reliving a Broken Heart

Didn't think you had the power
To hurt me again
Never thought you could break
My heart again
Why couldn't you tell me yourself?
Why did she tell me instead of you?
Because you couldn't tell me yourself.
This time hurting me may not have been your intention
But it did.
Been crying for an hour
Old anger is back
Didn't think old hurts could come back
But tonight it did.
Red and swollen eyes
Running nose
Fire in the gut
Unexplained anger
Makes you want to resort to old habits
But you don't
No pills
No razor blades
No alcohol
Why?
Because you are not worth that pain.
No one is worth causing that type of heartache or sorrow
That you can inflict on innocent bystanders
Or those that love you.

Saturday Night Blues

All alone on a Saturday night
Flirting wth Disaster on TV
Waiting for something new
To come my way

Loneliness
Leading to the beginning of a new life
New location
New love (here's to hoping)
New job
New friends

Here's to missing...
Old life...
Old job?
Hell no!!
They made you miserable
And most pretended to like you
And then proved to be phony
Pushing you to the side
When it wasn't convenient for them
To be seen with you
Or speak to you anymore.
Old location?
Just where I grew up but even that is gone since that was sold.
All the original neighbors went their separate ways.
Old love?
Just an ex who moved on with someone who makes him happy therefore I'm happy he's happy...
Mourning that was so 3 years ago.

Tonight I'm alone
It makes me reflect on days gone by
For no other reason than hearing songs that remind me of past and present.
And hopefully a new future

To the one that goes on about petty things...

Friday night
Alone again...
This is torture
This is pain
Migraine
Listening to insanity
Blah blah blah
I have my problems too
We all do
You have a man or woman in your life
I don't
He or she may be a pain in the ass
Consider yourself lucky
Some people would give their eyeteeth
To have someone in their life..

Reflections of Independence Days Past July 4, 1980

Current mood: nostalgic

Category: Life

I chose this particular day to reflect upon for a reason. Today is my youngest brother Ralph's birthday. He was born 28 years ago on a Friday morning in the living room of our childhood home in Bayonne. Our mother went into labor very quickly and didn't even make it out of the house before my brother who was anxious to make his appearance upon this earth. He just couldn't wait to get out and see the world, which is how he is today.

I tend to remember the details because I remember wanting to see my mother and my older sister kept me in our parents' room not letting me out to see the action. I remember being very upset and mad until I was allowed to see my new baby brother. I remember the first time I finally got to see him. I think it was one of the EMT's from McCabe's who wrapped him up in a white blanket and let me look at him. His big brown eyes opened up and stared right at me. Those eyes are just as wide today as they were 28 years ago.

Because he was born on our nation's 204th birthday, the delivery was mentioned in the local papers of the day, the Jersey Journal, and the now non existent Hudson Dispatch before it merged with the Jersey Journal because he was delivered at 8:25 in the morning by paramedics according to the papers (this is again by memory).

Today, that big brown eyed baby boy is a married father of three boys, his youngest being an almost replica of himself. Same wide eyes and smile. Happy Birthday Ralphie. With love from your sister Susie!

Expansion of self...

Current mood: determined

Category: Writing and Poetry

Over the last year, I have been through some major changes in my life as mentioned in previous blogs. More recently I am realizing the kind of person I want to be and how I want to live the rest of my life. One thing I do know is that I've become much stronger and more independent.

One of my passions, as many of my close friends know, is politics. Or to be more precise, Democratic politics. Yes, I'm a Democrat! Because of my affiliation with the board of elections, I do not publicly endorse any candidate on the local or national level. If you know me well, you know which way I lean on much if not all of the issues. I tend to spend weeknights after 10 pm ET listening to Mike Malloy. He is one crazy liberal but I love him. He plays on XM 167 Air America aka America Left on XM Satellite Radio or you can listen to the online stream at www.mikemalloy.com. When I get out of work, I catch the last 90 minutes of Randi Rhodes, also on the same station. She's on from 3p-6p and she's just as outspoken. Check my top friends for their profiles. Out of curiousity, I've listened to the right wing talk shows just to see what the fuss is about. I think most of them are ignorant and just plain idiotic, who conform to the status quo.

Longer blog tonight, yes, but a lot on the mind and not much to do with it. If you get a chance give them a listen.

Sue takes on personal ads...

Current mood: pensive

Category: Romance and Relationships

Tonight for laughs, I started looking at the personal ads. If it's free, anything goes, I guess. I know people who resort to the personal ads for dating since they're afraid, uneasy about the bar or social scene. Of course, you also get the married men looking for side action, or a little "love in the afternoon" if you will. I chuckle at some of the men who only want thin and pretty girls or one who stated he only wanted feminine girls only. One wants an Ivy League educated woman only. Ok, if you want one of those, advertise in the newspapers who service the Yale, Harvard or Columbia school population. And this is my rant for the day...

Things you dont ask your friends.... if you want them to stay your friends

Current mood: mischievous

First of all, whoever reads this, this is only meant in fun, these aren't things I would normally say or do under normal circumstances. This is just what if scenarios... not all of these are in good taste. Just wanted to warn you up front...

1. What is the size of your...(manhood, etc, pick your word)?

2. What's he/she like in the sack?

3. How big is her rack?

4. Does he/she like to (pick a sexual position, sex act, oral, etc...)..

5. Can I join you in bed sometime? (Good pick up line but only if you want to be considered slutty. Not recommended for someone you met 5 minutes ago.)

Girls...

1. Can I borrow your husband/significant other for an hour. I'm sure I have a better use for him that you have lately....

2. What's he/she like in the sack? Can I watch? (For those who are lesbian/bisexual or who just like threesomes...)

3. What's your favorite position? Wanna show me?

4. How big is his....(fill in the blank)

5. Is he the best you ever had? Do you wanna share him with me? I promise I'll return him when I'm done....

Yes, this is of extremely poor taste. It was just an exercise of how to be or not to be a friend/girlfriend/lover, etc...

Why Ask Why?

Why ask why...

Current mood: optimistic

Category: Life

Why is it that when good people try to do good for themselves, there's always someone that goes out of their way to ruin it for them. You do your best at let's say, your job, a story, or a relationship and it all blows up in your face. You go from being the star to the "troublemaker", from drafting a short story to a poem or essay, or someone who you thought loved you ends up leaving and your entire life changes in one shot. All that happens is that you end up isolated, alone and possibly having to start your whole life over again because everything you had one year ago is taken away from you and you spend almost the entire year mourning the loss. Then you slowly come out of it as a different person who is a hell of a lot less trusting almost everywhere you go, from work and elsewhere. You even have difficulty trying to date anyone because of the trust issue(s). Hopefully, once you start to pick up the pieces and try to move on, some people who you really want to stay in your life do so and those are the people you reach out to and love dearly as friends and family with all your heart.

Sue :-) Never forget anything that makes you smile.

Here's this week's rant...

Goose Step Mama

By Ernest Stewart

Goose step Mama, boogie all night long.

Goose step Mama, you can do no wrong.

You know how to reassemble. Empty hands and knees that tremble.

Goose step Mama, oh yeah, Goose step Mama, wah-hoo!

Goose Step Mama ~~~ The Rutles

We starve-look

At one another

Short of breath

Walking proudly in our winter coats

Wearing smells from laboratories

Facing a dying nation

Of moving paper fantasy

Listening for the new told lies

With supreme visions of lonely tunes

Hair ~~~ The Flesh Failures

"Bush's MBA is irrelevant. He was a legacy admission because of the Bush Family fortune and the school had to pass him through in order to avoid embarrassment." ~~~ Alan Greenspan

The more I know about and understand Sarah Palin the scarier she becomes. Most people I've talked to have a tendency to see Sarah as just another Dan Quayle, i.e., another harmless rat-wing loony. While we all laughed at Dan at first, we all stopped laughing when he joined with his fellow traitors to produce PNAC. Much like how Bush turned out to be not all that funny!

Sarah's nomination was a stroke of genius. Old "wet start" was still trailing miserably in the polls even though Obama was doing everything in his power to lose the election, from alienating the left with his votes for FISA and running off to bow before AIPAC, to pissing off most of the women in America by choosing Joe over Hillary.

Then some Rethuglican master, who knows perhaps, Dick Cheney or Karl Rove, (it does sound a bit Rovian does it not?), hoping to shore up the fascist base and suck off quite a few Hillary voters chose Sarah. Sarah, who being a mom five times over, Governor, Christian and a little to the right of Darth Vader fit the bill for cementing the Rethuglicans and for getting this election close enough to steal again!

The lights are on in Sarah's beaming face but apparently there is no one at home, at least no one with a brain larger than a duck! Here's a person who may someday be thrust into the role of the most powerful person in the world with thousands and thousands of H-bombs at her finger tips, who thinks that the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are "god's" will. She also thinks destroying what little is left of a virgin Earth for a few buckets of goo which will no doubt be sold to Japan is another command from Jesus. She's also up for war with Russia if they were to do what we did in Afghanistan, Iraq or potentially with Iran. Do you want to be blown into tiny bits for a Russian incursion into Georgia or Poland, America? She is a product of hundreds of years of brain washing and could be the poster child for being a Sheeple. Who better to lead the Sheeple to the slaughter than one of their own, a "Judas goat" named Sarah?

Her family life is a joke from her pregnant daughter (so much for abstinence) to her husband who wanted to take Alaska out of the union and make it a separate country, which I believe is sedition (so much for patriotism), is it not? Of course, the MSM, which always has a field day if the merest hint of scandal is found near any Demoncrat, has changed its tune for Sarah. Which, they will no doubt continue doing when Sarah starts banning books, abortion, civil rights and talking in tongues.

If you want to avoid this madness, there is still time. If you think it's time for a women to be president? If you think it's time to elect a black person to be president? If you think it's time to elect a president who is for world peace, have I got a candidate for you, Cynthia McKinney! Vote Green, vote early, and vote often!

In Other News

I see where we're about to become a third world nation. Another trillion-dollar disaster for our corpo-rat masters as we continue to hemorrhage good money into the black hole that is the "Crime Family Bush." You owe the entire world more money than we'll make in a decade and with the constant drain of good paying jobs from this country to countries all over the world, you owe more than you'll make in your lifetime!

It's bad enough that we're considering a trillion-dollar bail out of these corpo-rat crooks but Phil Graham, who fronts for the Swiss banking group UBS, wants US Taxpayers to bail them out, too! You'll recall that Sin-ator who made the Enron debacles possible and most all of the current bank failures and who once said, "You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession," and "We have sort of become a nation of whiners, you just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline." No welfare for the poor and former middle class who have lost everything to these same crooks and thieves but Phil dares to ask for corpo-rat welfare. Tweety Bird often refers to Phil as a hypo-twit!

Speaking of market failure, if John McCain is elected president Phil Graham will most likely be his Secretary of the Treasury. This is the same bozo who is responsible for ending regulations and thus, created our current financial debacle and the kind of speculation in oil trading that pushed prices above $4 per gallon. This just in, apparently the State of North Carolina is out of gas! With Phil in charge of the exchequer, I fear you ain't seen nothing yet, folks!

Meanwhile Johnny is suspending his campaign to rush back to Washington to stop the vote on this latest $700,000,000,000.00 bailout as the people have spoken loud and clear that they don't want the expense of saving the mansions, yachts, private jets, islands and vast bank accounts of those corpo-rat goons who have made our lives a living hell. Of course, the Dems, who just started growing a backbone for the first time in 45 years, will soon cave in and your great great grandkids will spend their lives paying for these outrages! How does that make you feel, America?

And Finally

Monkey boy never gives up, does he? There was Bush on the tube warning us, once again, that the world would end unless we gave away the rest of the treasury, this time to corpo-rat Wall Street Typhoons, er Tycoons!

Bush warned if Con-gress doesn't do just as they are told, the country could face "a long and painful recession." I don't know where the Fuhrer has been but this country has been in a long and painful recession for years. It's that gaping maw of a depression that will make the 30's depression look like a "Swiss Picnic" by comparison that I fear.

One may wonder on what planet Bush and company have been for the last 5 or 6 years. In our new movie, W the Movie that question is never answered but that the Crime Family Bush came from outer space to rule the world is a gimmie. Wouldn't that explain a lot of things if it were true? Wouldn't it? Pity is, it's not true. Bush, like his daddy, is from New England and went to Harvard. He even got a Masters in Business Administration which goes to show what a MBA from Harvard is actually worth. The first president with a MBA will be the one that destroys America's economy. How's that for irony? I find it fitting that Capitalism will be brought to its knees by a fellow traveler!

Got your cave stocked with food and ammo yet? Got plenty of seeds and fertilizer? Have a sustainable source of power? A private source of water, fuel and something to barter with? Got vitamins and a bottle or two of Potassium Iodate (KI03)? K103 will shield (or block) the thyroid and prevent it from absorbing radioactive iodine during a nuclear emergency. Got your electronic equipment shielded from an EMP? Etc. etc. etc.! It's about to hit the fan folks. Don't forget to duck and cover!

We'd like to thank Nikki for her donation this week, we're slowly beginning to close in on our goal to keep fighting for yet another year.

We don't sell our readers new cars, fancy homes or designer clothes. We don't advocate consumerism nor do we offer facile solutions to serious problems. We do, however, bring together every week writers and activists who are not afraid to speak the truth about our country and our world. The articles we print are not for the faint of heart.

As access to accurate information becomes more difficult and free speech and the exchange of ideas becomes more restricted and controlled, small publications and alternative presses disappear. Issues and Alibis may soon join that list.

We aren't asking for much-not thousands of dollars a month, not tens of thousands a year. What we need is simply enough money to cover expenses for the magazine. A few thousand dollars a year. A few hundred dollars a month. We cannot continue to go into debt to publish Issues and Alibis but at the same time we cannot, in good conscience, go quietly about our daily lives, remaining silent in face of the injustices perpetrated by our leaders and our government. So we need your help. We need your spare change. A dollar, five dollars, whatever you can contribute. Every penny makes a difference.

Because the management will clown you the hell out!!! I was in the Virgin Megastore in Union Square in NYC this afternoon and as someone was being arrested, the DJ in their little booth played the theme song from Cops repeatedly, you know..."Bad Boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you...." from the time they nail your ass till the cops offer you a one way ticket to the nearest precinct wearing pretty silver bracelets, you know, the ones where they put your hands behind your back and they put them on both wrists and escort you out of the store with half the security staff watching the whole damn show. The purpose? To embarass the hell out of you for doing something as stupid as ripping off CD's and a stupid Ipod

Subject: 101 Reasons to Vote Against John McCain on Tuesday

Live Monday-Friday 6-9 AM ET

101 Reasons to Vote Against John McCain

We have found one new reason every day for the past several months to vote against John McCain on November 4th, and vote for Barack Obama. Check out the list - and send along to your friends, and vote for Barack Obama for President!

The list is in order by date posted, not by priority of the item.

#1: Voting against John McCain means you get to vote for Barack Obama. Visit his website for more information!

#2: John McCain won't release records of a possibly serious car crash. The senator is covering up for a possibly deadly car crash. We don't know any facts about it, because there are no released records. How honest is that?

#3: John McCain is a grumpy old man. He whines, complains and groans like an old man on a porch, just a little too much for us.

#4: John McCain has let his campaign spiral out of control. With Sarah Palin going rogue, and several Republicans preparing to meet on how to save the Republican party...do you want someone running the country who can't even run their own campaign?

#5: John McCain believes there is a vast 'left wing conspiracy.' He warns against a Obama/Reid/Pelosi agenda...when it is CLEAR AS DAY that America is hungry for Change!

#6: John McCain has flipped flopped 44 times. The old 'he was for it before he was against it' and vice versa...so much back and forth.

#7: John McCain is delusional when it comes to the latest polls. He is down in so many polls in different states, but he says the polls are not accurate. Is this a type of analyzer you'd want as President?

#8: John McCain wants it both ways. While he voted with George Bush 95% of the time, he then came out slamming Bush's policies as a campaign tactic - policies he used to agree with.

#9: John McCain allowed the RNC to spend $150,000 on Sarah Palin's wardrobe. Millions of Americans are in danger of losing their homes, and many spend less than that on a home...it shows they're elitists, and shows bad judgement.

#10: John McCain’s reputation is built on opposing torture, but he voted against a bill to ban waterboarding. He also applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban. Just another flip flop.

#11: John McCain is distorting Barack Obama's tax plan. It's another smear: He's calling Obama a socialist. Obama's tax plan actually gives tax cuts to Americans earning less than $250,000 a year.

#12: John McCain is using robo-calls with lies to scare swing state voters - the same types of calls he condemned back in 2000. He said the calls in 2000 were 'dramatically different.'

#13: John McCain is not an advocate for children. The Children’s Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst Senator in Congress for children. He voted against the Children’s health care bill last year, and defended Bush’s veto of the bill.

#14: John McCain hired someone who lobbied for Saddam Hussein. Especially when he says he doesn't like lobbyists, AND accuses Obama of palling around with terrorists, he puts Bill Timmons so high up in his campaign, as his Transition Manager?

#15: John McCain is injecting a bogus issue into the campaign: ACORN. Barack Obama once worked with the Department of Justice and ACORN, but McCain's accusations of Barack Obama attempting to commit voter fraud are baseless.

#16: John McCain opposes having women register for Selective Service. Barack Obama believes in equality and thinks women should be afforded all the opportunities and responsibilities that men do.

#17: John McCain refuses to repudiate and condemn the Chairman of the Virginia Republican Party. Jeff Frederick compared Barack Obama to Osama Bin Laden. McCain said he 'didn't know the context' of the comments.

#18: John McCain has a bad temper that is not acceptable for a President. It's known around the Senate as the "McCain Rage."

#19: John McCain is trying to paint Barack Obama as a terrorist. He said nothing at a rally when his supporters called Obama a terrorist, and said "kill him." In fact, in February, he said he would not allow these negative attacks to come from his surrogates, when Bill Cunningham viciously attacked Obama.

#20: John McCain called Barack Obama "that one." It was during the 2nd debate that he made this condescending remark.

#21: John McCain will raise your taxes for his health care plan. He will raise your income taxes on the $5000 health care tax credit he's offering, which in turn, will also cause your employer to stop offering coverage.

#22: John McCain accused Barack Obama of lying. That's just about as low as you can get in politics, especially when it's not true.

#23: John McCain wants to destroy health insurance for non-elderly Americans. He plans to eliminate tax breaks for employer-provided health insurance, which would cause 20 million Americans to lose their coverage.

#24: John McCain originally voted against supporting the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. It wasn't until he had presidential ambitions that he supported it.

#25: John McCain's tax plan helps the rich. He is only looking out for himself because he and wife Cindy would save $373,429 if his tax plan were enacted.

#26: John McCain has a gambling problem. He freely throws around chips at the table and has done it for years...he'll probably do some gambling in the government if he were to be elected!

#27: John McCain tried to blame Barack Obama for the financial crisis and the bailout failure. Actually, plenty of his own GOP friends voted to can the bill!

#28: John McCain showed a poor performance in the first one-on-one debate. He was mean and never looked Barack Obama in the eye, not to mention having poor answers to questions.

#29: John McCain grandstanded during the financial crisis. He played the card going into Washington like "Arizona Jones" to save everything...yet he's got nothing to do with the crisis, which may be a major part of the reason why the bailout fell apart.

#30: John McCain can't the handle the pressure. He suspended his own campaign when he fell behind in the polls and the going got tough - will he just suspend the presidency if he gets in a tough spot?

#31: John McCain is two-faced when it comes to lobbyists. He attacks Barack Obama for having ties to lobbyists. McCain's own campaign manager, Rick Davis, is a lobbyist - he was paid by Freddie Mac through August of this year!!!

#32: John McCain wants to deregulate the health insurance industry like they deregulated Wall Street. He is against universal health care, which would give health insurance companies much more power than they already have.

#33: John McCain thinks he has oversight over the SEC. He said he would fire the SEC Chair...but he can't constitutionally do that.

#34: John McCain Knows Nothing About Spain. In an interview, McCain clearly didn't recognize the name of Zapatero, the Prime Minister of Spain. He also said Spain is in our hemisphere, and referred to "our friends in Central America."

#35: John McCain Flip Flopped on AIG. John McCain was AGAINST the bailout of AIG BEFORE he was against it. After publicly saying that he didn't think AIG should be bailed out, less than 24 hours later, he called it a good decision.

#36: John McCain helped create the economic mess we're in. By backing de-regulation for so many years and fighting for big corporations, John McCain helped destroy the American economy.

#37: John McCain claims to be an agent of change. Barack Obama has been running as the "Change" candidate for almost 2 years. McCain has been in Washington politics for 26 years. How can McCain claim to be a change agent??

#38: John McCain voted against raising the minimum wage 19 times. While this last time around he did vote yes, why did he make the mistake of not helping working families 19 times?

#39: John McCain is calling a remark offensive - a remark which he once used himself. McCain used the "Lipstick" line - which has been used for years, Obama said nothing new - against Hillary Clinton during the primary race.

#40: John McCain's running mate ripped off her taxpayers for personal gain. Sarah Palin billed the state of Alaska for 312 nights spent in her own home, for travel and meals.

#41: John McCain showed poor judgement in his running mate choice. Sarah Palin does not have the qualifications to be Vice President of the United States.

#42: John McCain doesn't know how many houses he owns. He is so out of it, he can't count how many houses he owns...does he belong in the White House?

#43: John McCain is an elitist with 10 homes. He is out of touch with the American people because of his wealth, yet he attacks Obama for being elitist?

#44: John McCain cheats in church! He KNEW the questions going into the Saddleback forum with Pastor Rick Warren - and was not in a cone of silence. If he cheats on that...would you want him as President?

#45: John McCain would gut Social Security as President. His plan includes a higher retirement age, and he would cut benefits to moderate and higher income earners, plus, he would like to privatize Social Security as well.

#46: John McCain is in bed with Ralph Reed. McCain is scheduled to attend a fundraiser with the Abramoff-scandal-involved man, and is ignoring calls to cancel his appearance.

#47: John McCain supported an extra tax on Tobacco before he opposed it. He is now against a $1.10 tax that is aimed at cutting down on smoking.

#48: John McCain continues to lie to slam Barack Obama. In a new ad out on August 8, he says Obama would raise taxes on anyone making over $42,000 a year - not true.

#49: John McCain is against giving proper health care to our nation's veterans. In 2006, he voted against a bill that would give $20 million to the VA for health care facilities. He also voted against a bill that would increase Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion.

#50: John McCain mocks energy conservation. Barack Obama worked hard highlighting little things like properly inflating tires to help conserve energy, and McCain made fun of it.

#51: John McCain thinks we are better off now than we were eight years ago. Yes, his latest ad contradicts that, but in the Republican debate in January 2008, he said we were better off now than we were eight years ago. Fact is, inflation and unemployment rates are up.

#52: John McCain is in the pocket of big oil. He has accepted over $2 million in contributions from big oil companies, and has offered tax breaks to them as well. Barack Obama highlights these bad ideas in a TV ad.

#53: John McCain opposes the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). This plan would make it easier for American workers to decide if they wanted to unionize at their workplace, and McCain doesn't support giving them that right.

#54: John McCain played the race card. His ad featuring Paris Hilton and Britney Spears injected race into the campaign.

#55: John McCain promised a clean campaign, based on the issues - but has not stayed that course. He has started running negative attack ads, after saying he had respect for Barack Obama.

#56: John McCain flip-flopped on taxes. He once said he'd never raise taxes. Now - he's open to raising Social Security taxes.

#57: John McCain flip-flopped on affirmative action. He used support it...now he changed into the wrong direction and supports a measure on the ballot in AZ to end the policy.

#58: John McCain is two-faced on lobbyists. He has constantly said he wants nothing to do with 'big-moneyed special interests'...but he has taken in $181,000 in donations from lobbyists.

#59: John McCain's priorities for health insurance companies are flawed. He is all for them covering Viagra, but not birth control.

#60: John McCain is still fixated on the 'surge.' He doesn't get that the surge is over - he believes it's still going on.

#61: John McCain isn't fit to be commander in chief. He lost five Navy aircraft during his flying career.

#62: John McCain needs a geography lesson. He brags he's been to Iraq so many times, but he said Iraq borders Pakistan. Look at a map, John....there's a little country called Iran in between.

#63: John McCain supports the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy in the military. He believes the anti-gay policy is working.

#64: John McCain has slammed Obama for only attending one Afghanistan hearing...but McCain's even more guilty! The Arizona Senator has not attended any committee hearings on Afghanistan.

#65: John McCain says the war in Iraq is not related to the war in Afghanistan. Barack Obama pointed out that the Senator from Arizona is dead wrong.

#66: John McCain's top economic advisor thinks the poor economy is just a 'mental recession.' Phil Gramm called America a 'nation of whiners.'

#67: John McCain's Gas Tax Holiday is a joke. Virtually every economist has shot down McCain's idea of a gas tax holiday. It just won't work!

#68: John McCain flip-flops on immigration. First he applauded a clear route to citizenship, now he's changed to a "fences-first" stance.

#69: John McCain gives us double-talk on Iraq. He says on the one hand, we gotta keep it going with no timetable. Then, more recently, he says we'll balance the budget by winning the war in Iraq and getting the troops home.

#70: John McCain represents the third term of Karl Rove. Steve Schmidt is the latest person to be at the top of the campaign - another name involved with McCain who worked closely with Karl Rove.

#71: John McCain is taking money from Swift Boat veterans. In 2004, he called them dishonest and dishonorable.

#72: John McCain flip-flopped on swiftboat veterans. In 2004, he condemned the swiftboat veterans, now, he endorses them, with Bud Day back on the scene.

#73: John McCain is a tax cheater. Cindy McCain failed to pay property taxes on time - that is not the type of responsibility that we want in the White House.

#74: John McCain is an opponent of helping rail transit. When he chaired the Senate Commerce Committee, he opposed public financing of Amtrak - a service very important in this day of high fuel prices.

#75: John McCain's healthcare plan would not help Americans. It would tax your healthcare benefits and leave working families at the mercy of big insurance companies.

#76: John McCain is a fear monger. Adviser Charlie Black suggested another terrorist attack would help McCain and the Republicans win.

#77: John McCain is more of a game show host than a candidate, offering up gimmick after gimmick. First it was the gas tax holiday, but now - he wants taxpayers to give $300 million to whoever develops the next new electric battery. Too bad the Japanese are already five years ahead of the US in developing the next generation battery.

#78: John McCain does not have a good environmental record. The League of Conservation Voters gave him a zero rating when it comes to pro-environment votes.

#79: Cindy McCain criticizes Michelle Obama for not "always" being proud of her country. Guess what - John McCain said the same thing.

#80: John McCain graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy. Out of 899 graduates, he was ranked 894.

#81: John McCain uses scare tactics. John McCain accuses Barack Obama of having a "September 10" mentality. We've heard this before from George W. Bush. Republicans have NO problem using September 11 for political gain.

#82: John McCain is in favor of offshore drilling for oil. Of course, this is AFTER he was opposed to it. Drilling for oil off the shores of the United States WON'T ease the gas burden.

#83: John McCain was part of the Keating Five. John McCain was part of the five Senators who were tied to dirty deal with Charles Keating.

#84: John McCain doesn't support prisoner's rights. The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Gitmo detainees. John McCain says that the ruling "concerns" him.

#85: John McCain doesn't care about women's interests. He wants to overturn Roe v. Wade (among other things) - Planned Parenthood gives him a zero lifetime voting record on women's issues.

#86: John McCain won't repeal George Bush's tax cuts. This is another issue that he has flip-flopped on, and his plan will continue to put this country into a deeper budget deficit.

#87: John McCain agrees with Bush's illegal wiretapping policy outside of FISA. At one point he did disagree with Bush on the subject, but he flip-flopped and now supports the President.

#88: John McCain doesn't know anything about the economy. He himself said he doesn't know as much about it as he should.

#89: John McCain voted with George Bush 89% of the time through his administration. Just more proof that if he's elected, it's more of the same.

#90: John McCain is a fake campaign finance reformer. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) presented this reason during his in-studio visit, and believes McCains back-room dealings need to be exposed.

#91: The Supreme Court. John McCain himself has said he wants to appoint clones of Alito and Roberts to the high court. With that, Roe v. Wade and other important decisions will go right out the window.

#92: His bad "comb-over," that he won't admit to. He won't just be honest and admit he's balding - what else won't he be honest about?

#93: John McCain supports the war in Iraq. He stated he would stay in Iraq for 100 years.

#94: John McCain will be nothing but a third term of George Bush. He wants to continue the same policies that have failed for the last eight years, as Barack Obama pointed out.

#95: John McCain is too old to run the country. He'll be 72 this year. Back in 2000, he admitted to PBS's Jim Lehrer he's too old to be President!

#96: John McCain does not support the GI Bill. He's against giving our veterans full scholarships to college upon returning from service.

#97: John McCain has bad judgment related to the people he cozies up to. He was endorsed by, and was good friends with John Hagee - it took him three months to reject the endorsement! What other type of people might he get close to when he's president?

#98: John McCain doesn't know Shiite from Shinola. Even Joe Lieberman corrected him when he mixed up Shiites and Sunnis.

#99: John McCain doesn't want to change anything about our relationship with Cuba. He is attacking Barack Obama's willingness to meet with Raul Castro.

#100: John McCain will try to stir up war with Iran. We've seen this with his recent exchange with Barack Obama, saying we shouldn't talk - we should just bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

#101: John McCain's connection with Lobbyists. Special Interests, Special Interests. Ouch. The prime connection is Thomas Loeffler - who resigned from McCain's campaign because of his lobbyist connections.

1st Blog of 2009

Current mood: numb

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

2009 has to be better than how 2008 ended. A lot of uncertainty and not knowing how much loss you're gonna deal with either personal or job wise. And making decisions to speak up for yourself at a possible loss to yourself or someone else. Now you realize you're at a crossroads in your life knowing this is the year that you must make a change in your life or you will remain the bitter, downtrodden person that you've become. And hate with a passion.

I've been asking myself "What the hell happened to me? I've never felt this kind of anger and sadness before. Where did it come from? And why am I feeling this way?"

A year ago, I would have never shown disrespect to someone in authority. Now it's become second nature to me. Like it doesn't matter who the person is that ticks me off. They hear it. If I am not respected, that person will know it.

Food for Thought... the honeymoons over...

Current mood: indifferent

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

It's been a month now since he's gone and now that it's back to normal (or so people think), it's back to sarcasm and cold shoulders outside the family. This particular thing is funny because this time, I am not the one responsible for this situation, but someone else thinks so. Petty, I know, but true. But that's the way office politics goes I guess.

I admit I'm no angel through some of the rigamarole that's happened but by the same token, I am not one to take being harassed by anyone. If you do to me, I will retaliate. No matter how much you speak up, people find a way to make sure you're the one in the wrong and cover their tracks any way they can even if it hurts the person who is trying to do the right thing. If you're not part of someone's clique, from school to work, there will always be someone who will try to take anything good away, whether it is another coworker, a manager, or someone you would least suspect.

Are people who they say they are??? Really?!?

Current mood: determined

Category: Life

Yesterday I bumped into a former coworker who decided to tell me that a current coworker stated that she's a boss. Hell, no! Hell, freaking no! I think she was just trying to play me. But one thing I learned: people will lie, cheat, steal and bullshit their way into anything just to get what they want. Word of advice. Lie to me, play me, do anything to me and I'll squash you like a bug. Life is too short to take or play into the crap. Be who you are and if you're pissing off enough people in the statements you make, you're making an impact and a difference. It may not be what you want it to be but your voice is being heard whether people like it or not.

Life...

Current mood: indifferent

Is supposed to be what u make of it. If that's the case, then why do children suffer unnecessarily and then leave the earth so young? Why do young men fight like hell to get well after a life threatening cancer and then have their lives taken away? Why do people treat others so badly simply because they don't follow the crowd? Why do they target those people who are simply getting trying to get through the day? Does anything make any sense ever...

Frenemies of Convenience

Current mood: moody

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

Why is it that people only talk to you when they want something from you? And then when they're done it's like you never existed in the first place. Another day in the workplace, like almost every other day, where you sit alone because no one wants to associate with you and you can't figure out why (actually I can but some things aren't worth getting into). You're rejected because you won't conform to what other people want. Lies are made up about you and people would rather believe the lies. You'd rather listen to talk radio about real life events, no matter how depressing they are than listen to what you feel is mindless gossip. Especially when it is about you or people you care about.

Talk about celebrities, last night's American Idol, (no offense to those who like it) makes me want to yawn. I get bored with it so easily. I'd rather dissect the latest news events, like the former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich hosting a talk radio show this morning, or the stupidity that is AIG or what Obama is up to. If there's anyone out there interested in talking about those things, let me know. I'm not badmouthing celebrities or American Idol. I'm not that interested in keeping up with it.

Late night blues

Current mood: restless

Category: Life

Friday night

Can't sleep

listening to talk radio

Politics being the only thing

That calms me down

Don't ask me why...

I have no idea why...

Any voice will do.

Since very few voices

Address me during the day.

Being alone

Sometimes is a blessing.

Mostly it is hostile

And painful

Where you spend time

In a place

Where you know

You don't belong

And don't exist to most.

People wonder why

you say little

And don't acknowledge them.

Why should I? I ask myself.

Why should I acknowledge

Those who don't like me

Or pretend they do

Just so they can laugh

When you walk away.

Then they can humiliate you

And plot their next move

Against you

In order to thin you from their herd.

If you don't belong somewhere

Or fit into their standards

Then they go out of their way to

Try to eliminate you

Anyway they can.

Panic (poem)

Panic

Current mood: nauseated

Category: Life

Panic

Unable to catch your breath

Afraid of moving from your bed

Spending time curled up in a ball

When you do move

You feel lightheaded

And your head pounds

In the form of a migraine

You can't explain why

The idea of leaving the cocoon of your home

Scares the hell out of you

Because when you do

The idea of the real world

Scares the hell out of you

The real world has caused you

Nothing but pain and sadness

You choose to deal with it

By shutting it out

Because it hurts too much

After facing a lifetime of rejection

You choose to be alone

Because it's just not worth

The pain and heartache

Of being rejected

From a society

That just doesn't want you around.

It's just not worth it anymore.

So staying alone is the beat way to deal

Until another way is found.

Another Late Night Blues (poem)

Another Late Night Blues

Current mood: nervous

Category: Life

Another late night of the blues

The panic returns to the surface

Because tomorrow

you have to go to a place

Where you know you're not wanted

A place where people are plotting

Their next move against you

You walk around in silence

Wondering when your last day

Is going to be.

Will it be today

Tomorrow

Or the next day..

The end of the week

Month

Or year..

Will you still be there?

You wait for the other shoe to drop.

How much longer will it be?

The silence has to end sometime

Please let this panic end

God, please help me...

Coming to Terms With Life

Coming to terms with life...

Current mood: pensive

Category: Life

You're not going to be the popular one

Or the one people want to be around

The one they sit with

The one they acknowledge

Or the one they want you to be.

Time to let go

Time to say goodbye

Time to move on

And accept that you're no longer the one

That people met a decade ago.

A decade later

You're tougher and harder

On the inside that

You've ever thought you could be.

But it's become necessary

Just to get through the day

In a place where very few people

Even want you to be.

No more ignorance

No more naivete

Time to wake up

Turn around

Walk out the door

From the old you that was soft

To the new you that is hard

And cold and calculating

As the people around you.

Black Haired Cutester

Fun note about this poem. I wrote this shortly after I dyed my hair black. However, I am now back to my natural hair color (brunette) with a few grays...lol.

Black Haired Cutester...

Current mood: restless

Category: Life

Hey black haired cutester

Another sleepless night is coming

You can take as many pills as you want

But your body becomes immune to their effectiveness

Imipramine

Lexapro

Vesicare

Focalin

Xanax

Restoril

Tylenol PM

Whatever it takes

Not suicidal

Just panicked without warning

You want to sleep but it doesn't come easy to you

No matter what you do.

The mind runs a mile a minute

But the body wants to sleep

However the mind refuses to slow down

For anyone, body and thing.

Now the mind starts to relax

And sleep becomes a thing of the present...

Just hope 5 in the morning doesn't come too soon

Good night world...

Tomorrow is another day

Motor Running

Current mood: sleepy

Category: Life

Tired

But not sleepy

Body wants rest

But the mind keeps racing

It flits from one thought

To another

Can't sleep

Why doesn't it come easily tonight?

Heart keeps racing

But nothing is stressing me

At the moment

Worrying about nothing

Or anything in particular

Doesn't make sense to me

Maybe as time goes on

The sandman will pay a visit

Until then

Friends will play on the tv

And Stephanie Miller and/or

Mike Malloy will mellow me out

Good night

Time to try to sleep...

It is starting to come to me now...

Hurrah!

Bayonne Medical Center Lockout June 9, 2009

Current mood: pissed off

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

At 7 AM this morning, June 9, 2009, Bayonne Medical Center, located in Bayonne NJ locked out 843 employees including myself and my sister-in-law due to an ongoing labor dispute between Administration and our union HPAE (Health Professional Allied Employees) Local 5185. I ask that if you can, please show your support by coming to the hospital and walk on the picket line with us. If you can't, just send words of support. If you want more information, please check out this website: www.nj.com/jjournal.

Lockout Aftermath Solidarity Forever/Facebook Entry Redux

Lockout Aftermath Solidarity Forever

Current mood: thoughtful

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

The Bayonne Medical Center Lockout ended on Friday morning, June 12 at 7 am due to political pressure and the fact that the administration couldn't run the hospital without us. And the fact that the patients complained about the crappy service. And possible impending lawsuits. Among a bunch of other things I can't remember right now. I returned to work that same morning. The job is a different place when you have to work with or dine amongst the scabs that crossed the picket line to do your job. Badly, I might add.

Even though we're all back, the job isn't the same. It even feels different. Some of the people treat you differently since you're one of the few people who spent a few days on the picket line, yelling for the people to honk their horns in support, walking with people you haven't spoken much to on the job all of a sudden know who you are, where you work in the hospital, and they now stop at the office to speak to you in which this time last year, you were a blip on the radar because once upon a time, you were (and still are) friends with people in management (past, not present). No one knew what to think of you. Today, you are someone because you stay true to yourself as hard as that can be sometimes.

Tomorrow is Day 2 back on the job. I feel very different than I did 5 days ago, before this lockout took place. I look at my coworkers differently, some for the better. Others, not so much. In other cases, even worse. I am angry at some for not picketing with us, instead staying away like management advised them to do. In other cases, I understand why they didn't. Me, I choose to walk the picket line again if I have to. I wrote this on a friend's Facebook page in response to a comment she wrote. This details why I walked, why I would do it again, and why I wouldn't change a thing: (I edited names for privacy purposes.)

I am proud of her too as well as myself for spending our days on that picket line. I told her last night that I wouldn't change a thing. I'd do it again. For the residents of Bayonne and our families and friends. I am proud of be a Bayonne Medical Center employee and no one, no matter how hard they try (management, etc. They know who they are..) will take that away from me. I've given 11.5 years to the hospital and I would do anything to protect anyone I care about from being hurt. I watched someone almost three years ago lose their job due to the carelessness of the former management in a layoff.. That same person gave his/her life to BMC and when I think back to that day in July 2006, it gets me mad and it keeps me fighting. That person made the difference in my job at BMC and the job has never the same since.

This sums up my feelings on the week's events and how I know I will not feel the same about my job again after this.

depression...

Current mood: depressed

Category: Life

I spent almost the entire week confined to my apartment. After the lockout ended, my mood started to dip down almost as deep as when Nicky died. I am at the point where everything is at risk now. My job. Everything. I go back, I get fired. I've already been suspended so I know I'm in deep shit for calling out again, even though I'm using FMLA, which has been helpful. I am starting to feel better but I know I need help now. I think I'm going to get some help once and for all and take a leave of absence from a job that doesn't really want me back anyway. During the lockout, even though I lost a few days pay, I felt something out on that picket line I never felt before. A feeling of solidarity with everyone I was out on the line with. It's like something inside of me changed. I went back to work for one day after the lockout and I can't look at my coworkers the same way. Most of them took the boss's advice and stayed away. As for the contract we fought for, I heard it's not that great. They're voting on it today. I can't bring myself to go back there. The idea of going back there gives me severe anxiety and panic attacks, which are back fast and furious, which is why I know I need help. The stuff they're giving me isn't helping me anymore. I start to feel lightheaded, as if I'm going to faint, but I know that's not the case. I feel like I'm about to crash and burn, which is what's about to happen anyway. I know I'm not alone and that I have friends but no one outside of my family knows how deeply the pain I feel is because Nicky's gone. I have tears rolling down my face as I write this because it is so hard for me to do. Nicky drove me nuts but that's what little brothers are supposed to do. I know he loved all of us and dying wasn't his decision to make. He wasn't afraid of it but he didn't want it either. For the most part, we've gone on with our lives and I'm trying to get on with mine. Like Stephanie Miller (my favorite talk show host), I'm an elderly shut-in, old maid, spinster (lol), no not really, I'm 36, she's 47 and has 2 dogs. I just exist alone in my own apartment. with this computer and the XM radio to keep me company. Can't have pets in this rent controlled apartment building.

Support the 1199 SEIU Workers on the picket line

Current mood: determined

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

I would like my Myspace friends to support the members of 1199 SEIU employees who work at Harborview Nursing Home in Jersey City, Castle Hill in Union City, Palisade Nursing Center in Guttenberg and Bristol Manor in Rochelle Park who are on a 3 day strike for a fair contract.

One of the nurses' aides works at one of the nursing homes for 16 years and only makes 9.53/hr. The average for most of the ones I spoke to today is 7.80/hr and have to work 2nd jobs just to make ends meet. Just to make rent. Please find time this weekend to drive past these nursing homes just to honk in support. Thank you so much. This is a cause close to my heart.

2009 winds down... major changes ahead...

Current mood: sad

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

It's been a hell of a year. My entire year has changed me. It kicked off ith the death of my younger brother Nick due to Leukemia. Then I ended up without pay for three days in June due to a labor dispute at the job. Then I end up hospitalized and it takes me 3 months to "recover". I reurn to a hostile work environment and I end up lasting 2 months before I end up sick again, hospitalized again and as of last Friday, losing my job after 11 years. My world has crashed. 2010 needs to be better. It will take time, but I will be better than ever when I feel ready to come back to the world. Whenever that will be. Happy Holidays Myspacers! Peace and love....

Current mood: sad

Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

One year ago

You went away

It wasn't your choice

You could not stay...

I spent more than a day trying to work these words into a poem but it didn't work so I felt it best to leave them be. One year ago today, I lose my brother Nick to leukemia and those lines are dedicated to him in his memory...

I love and miss you little brother. RIP Nick Reo 2.13.78 to 1.30.09

My First Live Journal Post... strictly for sh!ts and giggles....

welcome to my livejournal world

Aug. 9th, 2007 at 10:30 PM

Hi and welcome to Sue's Shouts.... not sure where I want this to go yet except to say that love isn't all its cracked up to be. I've been a single girl for the past 6 months. While that doesn't bother me, I now wonder if its too late to do certain things in my life, like get married, settle down, and have a baby, not necessarily in that order, as I consider myself not exactly traditional, mainly cause I find it mundane and boring. I don't have anything against anyone who chooses to live their life that way but I know that isn't me. The only thing I would want for a potential mate and father of my child, maybe husband, but it doesn't have to go that way, is that he is loving, caring, kind and considerate. I would also like to add that he has thoughts and opinions of his own and isn't controlled by his parents. Is allowed to act like an adult and doesn't need permission to go places. If I wanted that, I'd date high school boys and that's just downright incestuous to me, since I'm almost 35.

Mood: thoughtful

Happy New Year 2008!!!

Happy New Year!

Jan. 5th, 2008 at 6:14 PM

Today I'm writing live in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. The music of the day isn't exactly music. It's Air America Radio and it's playing Seven Days in America. This radio station is great if you're a die hard liberal like me and thinks the current presidential administration bites the big one. Word of advice though... if you lean anywhere towards the right-wing politically, then listen with caution because you will not like what they have to say. Conservatives beware. If there is anyone out there in livejournal.com land that likes this topic then send me a message through the livejournal.com website.

As this is also a New Year (buh-bye, 2007!!!), I will mention a few of my resolutions: save 10 percent of the yearly income, go back to school, and try life as a single girl for awhile. (If anyone on here is looking for a girlfriend or a booty call, kindly look elsewhere because I'm not interested right now.). I also need to figure out who I am after being a girl who was in a committed relationship for the last 12 years to one dumped for an older woman (break out the Geritol, people!)I'm also looking to spruce up the resume in the field by hooking on to a per-diem position. I spent the last 10 years in the Health Information Management field aka Medical Records. That's my rant for now. Happy 2008!

An update...

Feb. 23rd, 2008 at 10:37 PM

Well, It's been a few months since I've posted. I'm in a much better frame of mind and adjusting to being single. I'm in no rush to be involved in another relationship but it doesn't mean I've given up. I haven't. Right now, I'm just enjoying my singlehood and listening to my Air America Radio streaming on the computer. A nice quiet Saturday night. If there is someone out there, he knows who he is. If not, I just watch my brothers and sisters with their children (and grandchildren, yes, my two oldest sisters are grandmothers. And one of them isn't even 40 yet!!!) and know that my family line lives on...

WELCOME TO THE WORLD BABY GIRL!!!!!

Mar. 14th, 2008 at 9:45 PM

This afternoon I became an aunt again for the I don't know how many times now. I meant a great-aunt, for the third time, second time in three months. My niece Elizabeth gave birth at 5:19 pm this afternoon to a 7 lb, 5.2 oz, 20 inches long bouncing baby girl named Anastacia Elizabeth. She has dark hair like her daddy and long fingers like her mommy. Yes, I have a big family, but the only one of my brothers and sisters without children of her own. Not by choice. Just the way life worked out so far. It's sad even when your niece and nephew beat you out in the baby pool. It doesn't mean I'm not happy for them. I am. I really am. Just wish I had one myself sometimes. But that's ok. They have their single Aunt Susie who can do what she wants, when she wants, and for the most part, she does. I get the feeling that I'm the envy of most of my friends with children, how easy it is for me to get up and do something. The truth is that I envy them because they have someone that they can go home to, whether it's a husband, a wife, their children, their mother or father, or whomever their significant other happens to be at the moment instead of an empty, sometimes very lonely house with just a computer and an empty bed for company. But you learn to amuse yourself because you don't want to be a burden to anyone else and make them feel bad because at times, you feel bad yourself.

Writer's Block: My favorite memory

What is one of your favorite memories?

My favorite memory is one of my earliest memories. It takes me back over thirty years ago, when I was five. It involves the first song I ever learned. The song was sung by Debby Boone and it was called "You Light Up My Life". It was also the first song I remember that my mother sang to me. I think back at this time as a better time, when I was still the youngest in the family, before my younger brothers were born. This doesn't by any means mean that I don't love my brothers or love them any less. I just remember this as a time that I was once the center of attention. This also brings back some sad memories since I lost my mother five years ago to lung cancer. I still have difficulty listening or even singing that song without crying. I'm tearing up as I write this but I felt writing this would help me feel better about this memory.

PS written July 3, 2010: The brother I am referring to in this entry since passed away on January 30, 2009 from Leukemia. Today this song has even more of a significance than it did when I initially wrote this.

What do you think is too serious to joke about?

Personally, I think death is not something to joke about. The reason I say this is that for one thing, it's in bad taste. What if you make a joke about someone kicking the bucket or whatever. Another thing, what if someone had a recent death in the family and you make a totally tasteless joke about a suicide or something like that. For instance, one of my favorite TV shows, The Mary Tyler Moore's number one most popular episode is called "Chuckles Bites the Dust" tries to turn death into something humorous. While even I have to admit it does, I still think that death should never be something to joke about. It's off color and you never know if someone is mourning over a recent past or present loss of a best friend or family member.

Today I fight loneliness. I sit alone in a NYC park watching people both men and women jump double dutch on a pier near Christopher Street in the West Village. Wishing I wasn't alone and lonely but resigned to the fact that I am. Trying not to cry and just about succeeding but not so easily done. Tuesday will be here and life will be back to normal.

If you could live forever how would you spend your time?

If I could live forever, if I was immortal, I would want to accomplish the following:

Work for a non-profit organization that does good for the world, like the ASPCA, or support the things I love and enjoy, like future writers of America or something.

I would also want to support feminism, equal rights for all, like making sure that anyone could be married, either gay or straight.

Stop hunger in our country first and foremost, then conquer the rest of the world.

Regulate for-profit corporations or kill them, since they're all about the money.

Make liberal talk radio number 1 in the USA, like Mike Malloy (www.mikemalloy.com), Stephanie Miller (www.stephaniemiller.com), Randi Rhodes (www.therandirhodesshow.com) and give Radical Russ Belville (www.radicalruss.com) a daily talk show instead of airing for two hours on a Saturday afternoon on XM Radio America Left 167.

Make a TV news channel only for liberal talk shows, since the majority of the news channels currently cater to the conservative base, with the exception of MSNBC, who airs Keith Olbermann and soon to be airing Rachel Maddow.

What's the best April Fool's joke you've seen today?
I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, if you are familiar with Alan Colmes, formerly of Hannity and Colmes, announced on his blog today that he was going conservative and planned to change the name of his blog from Liberaland to Conservativeland. For more information, check out this website:

Do you change clothes when you come home from work or class? What do you put on?

I definitely change clothes when I get out of Dodge! Sweats and a sweatshirt in cold weather, shorts and a t-shirt in the summer. I don't want to be in work clothing any more than I have to be. I don't wear a uniform but I prefer to wear anything but work clothes.

Which day of the week do you least look forward to? And which one do you most anticipate?

So you want to know what day of the week is my favorite, huh??? The most obvious one: Friday! The end of the dreaded work week. Friday is my holiday... the world stops on Friday and I'm having me a ball, and I don't feel no pain at all, Friday is my day to play, yay! Yes, I stole the lyrics. I hear them every Friday night as the opening theme to the Mike Malloy show. I just forget who sings it... wait a minute, that's what Wikipedia is for, or I should just Google it... lol...ok. The name of the song is called "Friday is My Day" by Z. Z. Hill. I definitely enjoy this man's bumper music... ok.. off topic... and now back to the topic at hand...

The day of the week I look forward to the least: Monday. Back to work, back to the daily grind, back to the place where you spend eight hours peddling papers for people who don't appreciate you and are looking to backstab you. Is anyone who they say they are... really???...ok I just went off on another tangent. Reason? Trying to write something every day and this is not always easy to do. I am just trying to get my presence felt somewhere since right now this is the only place (and a few other blogs where some of my work is seen) where I can vent.... ok... sort of....

Is affecting my life greatly. It keeps me in the house for days at a time. It doesn't want me to brush my hair, take a bath, talk to almost anyone, just lay down and sleep. It takes energy just to go to the bathroom or even get the mail, which took me nearly two weeks to get. It makes you want to cry most of the time. It paralyzes you to the point where you can't even work. Going to the corner store even tires you out.

Was it a mistake?

To return to a hostile place in my life? I have been through hell and back this year. I return to work after a leave of absence and the newness has worn off only to more hostility in the workplace. It may have been a mistake but it pays the bills. And much needed health insurance. A coworker made a comment that I am responsible for most of the stress brought on by myself. Ok, am I responsible for my brother's death? No, but do blame any one person? No, I blame the system but that's a whole other journal entry. Am I to blame for being harassed on the job because of defending myself and doing the right thing? No, I don't think so. The person involved has the common sense of a Matchbox car. I'm supposed to take responsibility for that? Again, no. Hell no. They probably think I'm calling out today. Guess what? They're fucking wrong. I'm not running away. I'm gonna be there every day unless they let me go. And that will be with a bang. The same way I got there. Kicking ass and taking names.

One small correction. Bill Press is liberal, not centrist. In reference to an article written in Toronto Star. http://thestar.blogs.com/davidolive/2010/

Afternoon in the Park

I never realized how peaceful sitting in the park could be. You're relaxed, no worries, etc Sitting in the park facing a baseball field where your nephews and nieces either played or currently play for a team. Simple joys for a simple voice. You find shade, you listen to your walkman, CD player, Ipod, or whatever and you're in your own world.

Firing your psychiatrist....

Tonight I was at a mental health support group meeting and they usually have guest speakers. Tonight's guest suggested firing your psychiatrist. Well. Dude. Easier said than done. Some people who have mental illness only have Medicaid. And not a lot of doctors will take it because the reimbursement rates are so low. That limits the person to mental health centers publicly funded. And mental health services aren't cheap. I've been on both sides. Uninsured, where I had to pay sliding scale fee to see a community mental health psychiatrist/nurse practitioner and a private doctor, who I still see while paying COBRA rates for health insurance because I made too much money (before health care reform. Haven't tried again yet.) to be Medicaid eligible. Not everyone is that lucky. With all due respect, buddy. You're in my county not in another part of the state where people are wealthier. They don't have your resources. That have to take what they can get. It sucks but it's their reality. And mine.

Since I left them behind...

I had friends at my old job. Now that I'm not there, it's like I no longer exist. One person left the job and doesn't even trust me enough to tell me where she works. That's not a friend. Not a true one. True friends trust you. This one isn't true. One so called friend ratted me out to the boss for being too sarcastic and nasty. The last 2 years were almost constant harassment. One person lied about her nationality. She pretended to be from Trinidad when she was really Indian. I don't know why she had to lie. I guess she wanted to be accepted and couldn't be herself. One person forwarded a personal email to the human resources department. This is all because I told the truth of how my boss violated patient confidentiality. In retaliation, she had me suspended and eventually fired but not before she resigned herself. She is also responsible for my coworkers harassing me. She knew and did nothing. Other higher ups knew and did nothing also. And they wondered why I stayed out so much. No one wanted me there. Now no one keeps in touch with me. And if I try I am like a burden. Even someone who I thought was a friend is now conveniently too busy for me. Truth is, one person is going through their own situation so that one person I will let slide. Who wants to deal with someone who may no longer be able to be a productive member of society without having a breakdown every three months. You're only good enough when you're there. Now you no longer exist to them. It hurts and it's lonely. I miss my friends or rather the people they used to be. Or one or two in particular.

Census and taxes, oh my...

Making my first serious attempt to go back to work. Took the census test tonight. Now it's a wait and see thing. Tax time again. Received amended W2 in the mail yesterday. Not a happy camper. I file every year like a good little citizen I am and people make stupid mistakes. Your paperwork and bookkeeping skills need serious improvement, Payroll and Accounting. Be happy I'm not the obedient, compliant soul who used to work there. If I were I would be giving people new body orifices (figuratively, not literally...) please don't get nervous, reader. This writer is not that unhinged. Again, LOL.

Writings from a Hospital Ward...

I was hospitalized last summer for almost two weeks. Here are my thoughts and feelings during that time. This is no reflection on how I feel now. I just wanted to get this out there...

July 7, 2009

What happened to me...and where I've been...

On June 28, 2009, I tried to commit suicide. The reason I did it is still unclear to me. I just know my mind changed drastically when I lost my brother Nick to Leukemia on January 30, 2009. I stopped caring about everything, including myself. I let myself get evicted by not paying the rent, which I've never done before. I started to call out more from my job and practically destroy that. It didn't help that my reputation with my job is shoddy at best. I'm a college graduate with a relatively decent union job and I almost ruin that as well.

All I want to know is why I did what I did. One of my sisters asked me why I did what I did. All I can say is that I don't know why I did it. One of my brothers tells me that my mind isn't right. My family seems (at the time I initially wrote this, last summer) to agree with this assessment. Something snapped inside me. I'm not violent and I don't want to hurt myself. Not anymore. I'm supposed to leave the hospital tomorrow and I'm supposed to feel safe. I leave here, I'm no longer safe. I can get hurt again. I don't want to hurt anymore. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of fighting a losing battle in my life.

People say I'm lucky. Lucky? To leave the hospital, sure. But aren't you supposed to go to a safer environment? Where's my safe environment? Where I have to depend on people after taking care of myself for most of my life. Do I lose my independence? What happens to me? Will I get my old life back? Being the single independent my family thought I was? Am I turning out to be a fraud?

To be continued...

I spent more than a day trying to work these words into a poem but it didn't work so I felt it best to leave them be. One year ago today, I lost my brother Nick to leukemia and those lines are dedicated to him in his memory...

It's been a long time... hopefully with more to follow...

It's been a long time since I've written anything on this blogspot. A lot has happened. I am no longer in a down place in my life. I am no longer at my job as of December 11 of last year. They put me out of my misery by firing me.The timing was bad due to the economy.  Truth is, they did me a huge favor, looking back with a clearer head. I am slowly getting back into the game, hoping to give writing a serious shot, with a political bend to the writing since politics is my passion right now. Some of my writing will be very personal in the feeling department, mostly in the political department.
In the meantime, next Saturday night April 17, I will be seeing my talk show favorite Stephanie Miller in action with John Fugelsang, Hal Sparks and the Rude Pundit (www.rudepundit.blogspot.com), all of whom I can't wait to meet. I am looking into schools, part time work, something to kill the time since I've been out of the workforce for awhile.  As soon as I can figure out how, I am hoping to put a donate button on this blog, since I do enjoy writing and hope to make a little money from doing it. I'm realistic enough to know that unless you're extremely lucky, one can make a salary just from writing, which is why I'm looking for work again also. Anyone hiring??? Just kidding, I know it's bad out there and I'd rather look at my own pace anyway.  I don't want to end up doing something that makes me miserable again. 2009 was the worst year of my life. (See other posts in this blog for more information). I'm hoping 2010 is much better. Here's to a new life, Susiecutie!!!

Cafeteria Blues
Current mood: melancholy
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

7 weeks later
Sitting at a table
Watching the world go by
No one acknowledging your presence
No one caring whether you exist or not
Just passing you by with their food and gossip
Leaving you with your food and drink and sadness
Yet keeping you with your principles and pride
And confidence
Knowing you did what was right.
It wasn't without sacrifice
It wasn't without fear
It was with a sliver of strength you never knew existed within you
Until you found you needed it.You ask yourself if it was worth it
You ask yourself why
Others are afraid to stand up for themselves
And prefer only to follow the crowd
For fear of being rejected
For fear of being alone
For fear of being ostracized
And not being accepted.
As for me
I prefer to be myself
Not to be part of a crowd
That makes me sacrifice
Who I am and
Who I want to become.
I'd rather stay real
And true to myself
Than be a part of something
That I know in my heart is wrong
If that means I sit alone
Day after day with my food and drink to
Keep me company
Then that is the sacrifice I must make
Not to be part of the crowd
Then I'll continue the fight
to remain true to myself
as a survivor in the world of right and wrong.
